Twelve Trips of 2024 - Part 1

As the year is coming to a close, I realize I didn't post much on this blog.  It wasn't that we stayed home.  We were on the road almost every month of the year - even if just for an overnight excursion.  So to summarize, here are the Twelve Trips of 2024.  More or less, one per month.

Trip 1:  January trip to New Brunswick to visit Steve & Kelly.

Lily Lake in the winter

Steve & Kelly with Moose & Maggie

View from their deck

Day trip to St. Martin.
It's pretty quiet this time of year.  Nothing's open.
Had to return to Saint John for lunch.

Day trip to Grand Manan Island

Dark Harbour at low tide.
Our previous trip was at high tide where there was no visible access to the camps.

find the dogs on the rocks

Trip 2:  to Sioux Lookout, ON to visit the Opden Dries

I took the chance and drove from Winnipeg instead of taking the bus.
Thankfully the roads were good.

bathroom renovation in progress

a short week with lots of Omi snuggles

Trip 3:  Lloydminster SK to meet up with Ron & Marilyn who came from Saskatoon.  It was our late Christmas early Easter visit.

Dinner in the room.  Steak with a plastic knife?  Hmmm

Toured the Lloydminster museum featuring lots of beautiful indigenous art.

Trip 4:  Dallas and Port Aransas, TX  I've already blogged about this one at length.

Port Aransas, TX

Trip 5:  Road trip to the Gulf Islands, BC at the end of May, beginning of June.

Time to take that Jag for a mountain drive and visit Donna and Andrew on Mayne Island and tour around Salt Spring Island. It all ended with a flat tire in Jasper and a long slow drive home on the spare.

The Rockies

Mountain goat near Radium Hot Springs

Toured the Glass House north of Cranbrook.
It's made out of embalming fluid bottles.

Stayed in a tiny home Air BnB near Oliver, BC.
It's tiny!

Taking the ferry with Andrew to Mayne Island

Dave tried his hand at fishing in the channel.

Lovely views at every turn.

Beautiful Japanese Garden

Mini-golf with Donna and Andrew.

We had a wonderful weekend of beachcombing, walking around the community, enjoying the market and enjoying good food with good company.  From there, it was on to Salt Spring Island.

Our beautiful Air BnB near Ganges.

Our view on a misty morning.

Same pier - high tide and low tide.

What a beautiful island for driving around, hiking and exploring.  We'll need to return someday.

Then we left the laid-back island life behind
and were faced with the craziness of Vancouver.

But all was restored as we stayed the night in Horseshoe Bay
and enjoyed a lovely sunset.

Spontaneously decided to stop at Shannon Falls.
They were impressive.
.
Just a quick pit stop in Whistler.

Mount Robson - it peeked out momentarily,
but not in this moment!

Jasper

Trip 6: Wetaskiwin, AB  This was the first of our summer camping season.  We joined the Pioneers chapter of the Alberta RVers Association for a couple of nights.

Toured the Reynolds Museum
The feature was cars of the 1970s.

Twelve Trips of 2024 Part 2

As we continued on our travels, we had a few expensive adventures with repairs needed to truck and trailer.  Ouch.  As one sign I saw said:...
