Newfoundland - First Impressions

It was a day of hurry up and wait.  Got up in good time to get into the line to board the ferry.

Eventually we were boarded and the six plus hour journey to Newfoundland began.  As we left, the boat had a bit of a rock and roll.  It rocked Dave to sleep for quite a while.  Otherwise, we passed the time reading, playing cards, working on my art journal and walking around.

We caught sight of Port aux Basque and couldn’t believe how barren it looked.  Not a tree in sight.  It really is The Rock.

Then we had to find our accommodation.  It was quite a round of up and down and back and forth until we found it.  What a view.

This year is Homecoming Year.  There are lots of posters with Welcome Home 2022 slogans and even the license plates are sporting that line.  Buildings have a fresh coat of bright paint, in this case some little gift shops.  We heard a bit of music on our way up to the restaurant coming from the bandshell but it was over by the time we'd eaten.
