Steve and Kelly got married

Steve and Kelly got married!  It was a most wonderful day.  What else can I say?

It was a crazy busy memorable week as we got ready for the wedding.  We arrived at Steve and Kelly's place on Monday and there was still a lot to do.  Steve, Kelly, and her dad Tony, among others, had spent tons of time clearing Japanese knotweed, building a magical stairway through the bush, and removing alder bushes to create a clearing for the tent.  Basically, they built a wedding venue.  And once it was all decorated, it was so beautiful!

The day before the wedding was a lobster boil out on the beach.  These are the events you read about in the tourist books, and it too was a perfect day to enjoy the feasting with friends and family on the Bay of Fundy.  It was timed to take place at low tide and as we ate, we watched the tide roll in.

Our girls and their families arrived in time for the wedding despite flight cancellations and delays; as did Dave’s sister Marilyn and her fiancé Ron.  Yes, there’s another wedding coming up this year!

All week we'd been carefully watching the weather forecasts which predicted rain and a view more like this.

Instead, it was a gorgeous day.  Even the locals from Saint John couldn't believe how hot and sunny it turned out.  Later, in the evening, the fog rolled in, making for a magical fireworks finish.  Finish, for some of us.  Others partied well into the night.

Even though we were busy with the wedding and all, we did have some time to enjoy Uptown and the new Container Village gift shop area.  We also took time to enjoy the Reversing Falls.  It's hard to explain with a picture, but it's so interesting to see how the river is forced to flow upstream with the rising tide.

We'd parked our trailer on Rob and Clara's driveway in Hampton which was about half an hour out of Saint John.  We got to know that stretch of road quite well as we went back and forth each day.  Even so, we had time to visit with Rob and Clara, Dave had time to throw a fishing line into the Kennebecasis River and there was time to stop and watch a sunset on the nearby lookout.

Next stop:  Nova Scotia

Twelve Trips of 2024 Part 2

As we continued on our travels, we had a few expensive adventures with repairs needed to truck and trailer.  Ouch.  As one sign I saw said:...
